The stewards believed that such actions by Norris violated the sporting principle.

Oscar Pistri (11th): “It’s a shame I was only one position away from earning points. I had a very good first stint, but after the pit stop the pace dropped and the tires wore down quickly. However, we learned a lot from this race.
Many thanks to the team for recovering the car after the accident. We will have some time to rest before going back to work in Austria.”
Lando Norris (13th): “Tensive race. I was a bit unlucky – I lost the position at the start, but otherwise I’m happy. I had a good pace and was fighting for the points. However, in terms of tire degradation and overtaking, the race proved difficult to but we squeezed the maximum out of it, so I’m happy. It’s a pity that I got a fine, but together with the team we will analyze the causes.
The next stage will take place in Austria on one of my favorite circuits, so I’m looking forward to the race. We will do our best and try to earn points.”
Andrew Stella, Team boss: “It’s a shame to leave Canada with no points earned, although we looked quite competitive in the race in the middle group. Lando finished ninth, but a five-second penalty dropped him to thirteenth, which is a shame.
One of the positive results of the weekend in Montreal was that we had good pace in some parts of the race, although we had problems with overheating tires in the second part.
We look forward to continuing to upgrade the MCL60 to pick up the pace and consistently earn points in the future.”
