George Russell finished third in Albert Park and took his first podium with Mercedes…
George Russell (3rd): “We couldn’t count on the win today, but we fought hard and took advantage of the failures of our opponents.
Today I was lucky twice, which is good, but we have a lot of work to do to try and get back in the fight for the wins. In the meantime, it was very nice to climb onto the podium.”
Lewis Hamilton (4th): “This weekend the weather was not without problems with the car, after finishing fifth and sixth in qualifying we didn’t expect to finish third and fourth.
George did a great job today, I saw his fight with Perez – I wanted to participate in it myself but the engine overheated and I had to slow down. We’ll take those points and move on.”
