After the Canadian Grand Prix, AlphaTauri’s team dropped to last place in the Constructors’ Championship, with only two earned points in their possession. Helmut Marko said such results from the junior team do not suit Red Bull’s management, but he is counting on the progress of Faenza’s team this season.
Helmut Marko: “We are not satisfied with the results of AlphaTauri, nor with the team itself. However, their main task is still to train our young talents and help them take the next step forward. This has worked well in the past and still works in the present, as we see with Yuki Tsunoda despite meager results.
We hope AlphaTauri gets better this year. Looking ahead, we plan to expand our partnership with Red Bull Racing to use resources more efficiently. Naturally, this takes place within the framework of the regulations. We intend to move part of the team to England.”
Commenting on Sergio Perez’s results in the last Grand Prix, Helmut Marko made it clear that the Mexican rider should not worry about his place in the team: “He is doing the job we expect him to do. Sergio should help us win the constructors’ championship and the current position in the team standings confirms that he is doing everything right. He has also shown that he can win races when he is at his peak.
We have no doubt that Sergio is good enough. This Max Verstappen is getting better and better and it’s hard to find an alternative. Is there anyone who can oppose Max on an equal footing right now? To be honest, I don’t see riders like that.”
