Nick de Vries remains one of the two riders who have not scored a single point this season. AlphaTauri boss Franz Tost supports his rider and has no doubts that Nick will improve.
Franz Tost: “I have always said that in our time it is much more difficult for drivers to make their debut in Formula 1. Why? Because at the beginning of the season they perform on tracks they don’t know.
Nick did not know the circuits in Melbourne, in Saudi Arabia, in Miami and in Baku in general there was a sprint stage and qualifying took place immediately after the only training session. This makes it very difficult for a driver to get used to Formula 1.
I told Nick to stay focused and confident because we all know he can do his job well. He won in Formula 3 and Formula 2, became world champion in Formula E. Such results mean that De Vries knows how to win races and titles.
He just needs to gain confidence and our team needs to give him a good car.”
