FIA announces new recruitment for Girls on Track program

The International Automobile Federation and its Women in Motorsport Commission have announced the fourth entry into the FIA Girls on Track – Rising Stars programme. Registration for future participants is open from today.

The programme, run in partnership with the Ferrari Racing Academy and supported by the Italian Iron Dames team, promotes racing talent and recruits girls aged 12 to 16 from around the world. A total of 16 participants will be selected and they will have a unique opportunity to start a career in professional motorsport.

Two training camps are organized for them – for the juniors (12-14 years old) and for the seniors (14-16 years old).

The juniors will gather on September 4 and 5 at the Italian go-kart track in Franciacorta, the older girls will train there on September 6 and 7. These camps are held with the participation of ACI Scuola Federale, the racing school of the Italian National Federation.

The four most promising riders from the senior group will be invited to Maranello, where the last stage of the program will take place on the Fiorano circuit. The physical fitness of the participants is tested, their psychological endurance, they learn to communicate with the press, learn racing techniques and train on a simulator, after which they have to drive a real Formula 4 car.

The winner will be determined by experts from the Ferrari Racing Academy, after which she will have the opportunity to study at this academy and spend the season in F4 in 2024 with the support of Iron Dames. The rest of the finalists will also not be deprived of attention: their names fall into the “talent reserve”, which also opens good career prospects.

The best young kart driver will be able to start in international karting next year with the support of the Ferrari Racing Academy.

Deborah Meyer, Chair of the Women in Motorsports Commission: “I am delighted to announce the launch of the 2023 program and we are already accepting submissions from around the world. Our program is a unique racing talent accelerator designed for girls who dream of a career in motorsport.

After three successful years of work, the fourth and final admission to our program promises to be particularly popular. We expect a record number of applications, so the competition will be very strong, and this is due to the active work of the national federations.

I invite all girls with a passion for motorsports to apply and try their luck by taking part in this interesting adventure that can change your life.”
