Will Aston Martin build a hypercar based on the Valkyrie?

Aston Martin could make its endurance racing debut in the Hypercar class in 2025 after such plans were postponed more than three years ago. But a lot has changed since then and it seems that the British company has now decided to approach this task in a different way.

Dailysportscar.com, citing its sources, reports that a program has already been put in place to create a hypercar based on the Valkyrie model, and funds have been allocated to its 1,000 horsepower naturally aspirated 6.5-liter V12 engine to adapt to the technical requirements of the WEC. , ie power must be reduced to 670 hp.

The intrigue is that the program is privately funded, but these unnamed investors would already have a very solid reputation in the motorsport world. It is also reported that it should create two hypercars for the WEC in the first phase, but the program may be expanded in the future with the expectation of the US IMSA Championship.

It is not yet clear whether the team will receive factory status, or whether it will become private. In any case, WEC regulations require Aston Martin to agree to use their brand name if it is an independent project.
