Norris: Sprint will make the Austrian stage even more interesting

In Canada, McLaren drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri earned no points. The team is counting on a more productive performance during the upcoming stage in Austria.

Lando Norris: “The Grand Prix of Canada turned out to be difficult, but interesting. I had some good overtaking maneuvers and was able to fight for points on track. After returning from Montreal I worked on the simulator in preparation for the round in Austria.

Red Bull Ring is one of my favorite circuits, which I have many fond memories of, especially as it was my first time on the podium.

We are waiting for a weekend with a sprint, which will make the stage even more interesting. The prospects look promising, so we will do our best.”

Oscar Pistri: “I am satisfied with my debut performance in Canada. I was upset after the qualifying final, but on Sunday I was close to points. I still have a lot to learn and together with the engineers we worked on the base last week.

I’m looking forward to returning to the Red Bull Ring but now in a Formula 1 car. I’ve enjoyed the new sprint format in Baku so I’m looking forward to repeating the experience this weekend and hoping to pick up some points deserve for the team.”

Andrew Stella, team leader: “We returned from Canada with mixed feelings. On the one hand, it is a pity that Lando moves up to thirteenth line due to the five-second penalty. But on the other hand we were fighting for the points with two cars and the pace was better than expected.

Now all the team’s attention is on a double series of stages, which will start in Austria next weekend. We will have a sprint stage with only one practice session, so we will try to immediately show a competitive level on track, where the team has achieved good results in recent years.”
