Wolff and Allison participated in the Energy Asia conference

Toto Wolff, head of the Mercedes team, and James Ellison, technical director, took part in the Energy Asia conference dedicated to energy and environmental issues, which is now taking place in Malaysia’s capital, Kuala Lumpur.

The conference was hosted by the oil and gas company Petronas, the title sponsor of the team, and was attended by leading energy experts, as well as prominent representatives from other sectors of industry and business, as well as politicians. The main theme of the conference is the desire to achieve carbon neutrality and minimize environmental damage.

Speaking on the second day of the conference, Wolff and Allison talked about how their Formula 1 team is approaching environmental issues, the challenges they face and the innovative ideas driving progress in this area.

Toto Wolff: “Our team cares about the environment in every possible way, this is part of our activities in all areas. We share a common approach with Petronas in this area, so it’s great that James and I have been invited to speak at the first Energy Asia conference.

Very interesting discussions took place there and I have no doubt that it will become one of the most important events for the global energy industry.”

James Allison: “Innovation is at the heart of everything we do in Formula 1. Our team consists of pioneers and people who can solve problems, so it was interesting for us to spend time with people who are involved in innovative projects in other areas.

In addition, all of these attributes are critical to Petronas’ continued title sponsorship as we move to environmentally friendly fuels for use in power plants.

Energy Asia is an excellent platform for discussions on topics dedicated to finding possible solutions to more global problems.”
