Okay: Sprint gives more opportunities to earn points

Esteban Ocon finished eighth in the final round in Canada, continuing his hitting streak. At the Austrian Grand Prix, the Alpine driver will try to earn points for the fifth time in a row.

Q: How is your mood ahead of the double European podiums at Spielberg and Silverstone?
Esteban Ocon: I am definitely in a good mood and ready for the double races in Austria and the UK. We have been strong on Saturday since the stage in Baku and the team managed to convert that into good results on Sunday.

At the moment we are happy with our performance, but still the results are not what we would like to see – we need to take more opportunities to earn more points in the races.

The team at the bases in Enstone and Weary are doing a great job enabling us to introduce new products at every stage. We have a good car that we can fight with the teams in front of us, but we need to keep pushing the maximum to reach our ambitious goals by the end of the season.

Q: What do you expect from the stage with the sprint in Austria?
Esteban Ocon: The team is going to this track with confidence. This season we always reach the qualifying final and last year I finished fifth at the Red Bull Ring.

Pierre and I are in a good mood because we know we have a fast car. Now it’s important to try and have a smooth weekend to earn regular points for the team.

I feel rested and ready to attack this weekend. In the sprint we get extra chances to earn points, which is great. I’ve always loved the Austrian circuit, I love coming to this beautiful country, so I’m looking forward to Friday!

Q: What exactly do you like about the job in Spielberg?
Esteban Ocon: Last year I got a good result, and we hope for a successful weekend this time too. As for the track itself, it has some interesting challenges to solve – there are narrow slow corners as well as a fast set of sixth-sevenths. In addition, Spielberg has a significant height difference and difficult braking zones.

In any case, it is interesting to fly in Austria and I hope we will take advantage of the sprint weekend and earn valuable points.
