Helmut Marko, Red Bull’s motorsport advisor, said AlphaTauri will change its name next season and strengthen its partnership with Red Bull Racing. On Thursday, journalists in Spielberg asked Yuki Tsunoda for comment on Marco’s words.
Yuki Tsunoda: “I knew that the relationship between Red Bull and AlphaTauri would grow stronger and that there would be big changes in the teams before the public announcements.
AlphaTauri’s results over the past two years are not at all what we wanted to see. This is probably why Hellmuth thinks we need change. I think he gave us another chance last year, but we never got any better.
I think better cooperation between Red Bull and AlphaTauri will benefit, but it probably should have been strengthened three years ago. Anyway, I’m optimistic.
As for the new name, I don’t know what it will be. I myself have just learned from the news that such changes are expected in our country. In any case, the name change will have no consequences for me.”
Yuki Tsunoda added that he expects to continue working with Faenza’s team next year: “In Formula 1 you are never sure of anything, so I won’t relax completely. I’m focused on my work – let’s see how it goes. Compared to last year, however, I am in much better shape.”
