Norris: Alpine machines are very fast

In the Austrian stage, McLaren completed the car, but Lando Norris believes that even with these new products it will be difficult for them to fight Alpine.

Lando Norris: “Alpine has a very fast car this year, but they made a lot of mistakes and didn’t shy away from problems. In many races they fight with Ferrari and Aston Martin. In Canada we were a bit surprised when we were almost on par with them in terms of speed, but it was one of the weakest weekends for them. They also did an excellent job.

Let’s see how effective our new products will be, but I doubt we can put a fight on Alpine. They have one of the best cars, certainly the best in the mid range. I hope we can get close to them, and if they are not as fast as usual, we will try to fight.

This year our car lacks speed on the straights. By this indicator, we are one of the worst. Our innovations aim to solve this problem. I don’t expect any serious progress, but sometimes several terms add up and you add. We also hope that the car will perform better with tires in corners.

There is only one training this weekend. It will not be easy to realize the potential of the new products right away, but we will have more information for the Silverstone stage.”
