Spanish Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz finished second with the fastest lap. The top 3 was closed by Mercedes’ seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton.
The Monegasque Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) was able to break through from the last row of the starting grid to fifth place.
On the ninth lap of the race, the Mexican Sergio Perez (Red Bull) retired following problems with the car. Mick Schumacher (Haas) and Yuki Tsunoda (Alfa Tauri) also dropped out along the way.
