Mario Isola, head of the Pirelli racing division, is pleased with how Friday went in Spielberg…
Mario Isol: “The second sprint weekend of the season is very interesting, in the first part of qualifying the results of all twenty riders shared only nine tenths.
In terms of tire performance, there were no special surprises: the pole time was close to our predictions and the difference between the compounds matched the calculations – half a second between Hard and Medium, four tenths between Medium and Soft.
Thanks to the morning sessions of Formula 3 and Formula 2, the condition of the asphalt was already very good in the first practice.
During qualifying, the temperature of the coating dropped from 52 to 38 degrees, so the evolution of its condition was not linear.
There is a good chance of rain for Saturday, especially during the sprint race, although it may not be as heavy as previously expected.”
