Horner on problems with Bridgestone return

We wrote that Bridgestone has submitted an application to enter the competition for the supply of tires to Formula 1 in the 2025-2027 seasons.

Japanese tire manufacturers left and came back several times, the last time they supplied tires from 1997 to 2010, in the last three seasons they were monopolists, and then came Pirelli. But the conditions were different then, the teams were actively engaged in testing, which is very difficult now.

At a press conference on Friday, Red Bull Racing head Christian Horner commented on this issue…

Christian Horner: “We have worked with both companies, won races and titles with them, they produce quality products. Formula 1 is in good shape when two such companies show great interest.

At the moment we have absolutely no problems with Pirelli, but Bridgestone is also a quality manufacturer. The only difficult moment is: how will Bridgestone test tires before returning?

Teams will fight over who will build and deliver a test car? Who’s going to drive? Who receives information about new tires and experiences with them? How to maintain equality? These questions have always been acute and may play a key role in this case.”
