Lando Norris confirmed McLaren’s high speed at Spielberg with a third fastest time in qualifying on Saturday for the sprint. The McLaren driver is happy with his starting position, but declined to make a sprint prediction.
Lando Norris: “Qualifying turned out to be tricky as I was a bit scared going up the curbs. Overall the track was dry, but you had to be careful not to get into a wet area.
I felt like I did a better lap than yesterday, although I lost more time in first place. Must be Max [Ферстаппен] he did his job so well. Once again we delivered a strong performance – good teamwork.
Sprint opportunities? We had very little time to work in the first practice so we will only find out today what pace we have on a long run of laps. In the sprint it will be difficult, because you have to attack over the entire distance.
We will eventually get a good idea of how fast the car is, and whether we can compete with competitors who start nearby.”
