Alex Albon is dissatisfied that he decided to switch to slicks during the sprint – he feels he could have achieved more on the intermediate rubber…
Alex Albon (13th): “I’m not happy with the result of the sprint, which started well. I had a great start, confidently controlled Okon’s gap behind me as he battled Charles, had plenty of margin for tire efficiency. On the intermediate tyres, I wasn’t as fast as the cars behind us, but I was confident that I could hold my position.
But after seeing how Mercedes improved after switching to slicks, we decided to do the same – and this decision didn’t work. We’ll try to do better tomorrow.”
Logan sergeant (18th): “The first lap turned out to be difficult – due to the large amount of splashing water I hardly saw anything, but I did it. I was able to overtake well, I felt comfortable on the wet road. I think we are a bit late with the transition to slicks to expect a better result.
This is a good experience, now I understand better how to work with intermediate rubber next time. Starting 20th is always difficult, but the race turned out to be fun. Tomorrow we will try to bounce back with strategy.”
