Following the death of the 18-year-old Dutch rider during a wet race at Spa today, Lance Stroll said the Eau Rouge-Raidillon combination should be changed for this year’s Belgian Grand Prix.
Lance Stroll: “There is no point in discussing today’s sprint in Formula 1. The most important news today is the death of a young driver in Spa. My thoughts are with him and his family.
This corner needs to be changed, in the last five years it has claimed the lives of two young talented riders. It’s terrible what happened today, and in a few weeks we have to go there for the podium.
Eau Rouge – Raidillon is never fun. Driving this corner, every time we risk our lives. And what happened today should not have happened.
The organizers must do something. In a few weeks they will play with fire again. And not only we will take risks. Young drivers from Formula 2 and Formula 3 will compete there.”
