FIA assesses more than 1,200 off-track exits

After the finish of the Austrian Grand Prix, the Aston Martin team protested the result of the race. The reason for the protest is that, according to Aston Martin, not all drivers who exceeded the limits of the track during the race were fined.

The FIA ​​heard representatives from Aston Martin, after which they issued a brief statement regarding violations of the circuit’s boundaries.

“The configuration of the track and the tendency of drivers to go over limits resulted in an unprecedented situation where all possible infractions during the race could not be considered,” the statement said. – The FIA ​​launched an investigation after receiving protests from Aston Martin.

It is necessary to study more than 1200 reports of cars leaving the track. The results will be clarified when the analysis of the cases not seen during the race is completed.

The FIA ​​will update the circuit recommendations to add gravel safety zones at the exit of turns ninth and tenth. Although this is not the easiest decision, given that other racing series compete on this circuit [MotoGP]it has proven effective in other corners on other circuits where similar problems occurred.
