Valtteri Bottas: We are waiting for new items at Silverstone

After two scoring races in Barcelona and Montreal, in which Guanyu Zhou and Valtteri Bottas finished in the top ten, Alfa Romeo leaves Austria without points. The team’s best result was the Chinese rider’s fourteenth place and his Finnish partner crossed the finish line in sixteenth.

Guanyu Zhou (14th): “Unfortunately the result reflects our speed this weekend. We weren’t competitive enough and couldn’t compete for a top ten spot.

In the race I was unlucky with the safety car time, which allowed me to stay ahead of the Haas. In any case, it had no impact on my result globally. We have a lot to do in the coming weeks.

The last time the new items appeared on my car in Barcelona, and then I earned points, so we need new items. The battle in the peloton is very tight – twice this weekend I failed the second part of qualifying, missing five thousandth and one thousandth. With this density of results, every little thing will help, and I hope that the updates we are preparing for the next phase will allow us to take the necessary step forward.

Valttery Bottas (16th): “My task in the race became more difficult after the damage to the front wing in the first corner. As a result, the car lacked downforce in the first stint, which had a big impact on my result today.

Overall, we lacked speed this weekend, so we look forward to the new items that will appear at Silverstone. We definitely need updates as all the other teams progress. We also need to take steps forward. I hope the novelties will allow you to return to the fray.
