Alex Albon came close to scoring points at Spielberg but finished the race in eleventh. His teammate Logan Sargent finished thirteenth, his best result in Formula 1. Both Williams drivers were positive about the result of the Austrian Grand Prix.
Alex Albon (11th): “I’m not disappointed with today’s race, because normally the top eight places are taken by the riders of the top four teams, with everyone else battling for two positions in the points. Lando Norris had a great race, as did Pierre Gasly, and I was the best of the rest.
The team had a strong weekend – in the race I was seventh and our worst result was thirteenth. This shows that we are moving forward. On the other hand, the track suits the car, so we expected to perform better and are now a bit disappointed. Nevertheless, a great match. I think we’ve done a good job and Logan has done a great job – another demonstration of how we’re moving forward.”
Logan Sargent (13th): “It was difficult for us in the last races, but that’s why it’s good to see progress today. Because I didn’t qualify well, I had to work hard on Sunday – I did it and I feel like I’ve made a step forward.
Today’s race has shown what we are capable of and I feel we are finally moving in the right direction. There are European races coming up on tracks I know, so I hope today was the start of something good for us.
Next weekend’s race is on my favorite circuit, although it will be difficult for us because of the large number of fast corners, which I have to pay more attention to.
Thanks to the team for the hard work preparing new products for my car. We are already looking forward to the next race.”
