Over the weekend, Red Bull Ring was visited by 304 thousand spectators

A new attendance record has been set at the Spielberg circuit: there were 304,000 fans last weekend.

Several factors contributed to this: the championship is led by the Red Bull Racing team, which, although based in the UK, operates under the Austrian flag, and Max Verstappen remains steadily on his way to third title. It is not surprising that tens of thousands of his fans, including those from the Netherlands, sat in the stands of the autodrome.

Max raced in true championship style, he had no equal on the home track for Red Bull, so there’s no doubt that part of the crowd that supported him was pleased.

Fans of other drivers and other teams are probably a little less pleased, although 2nd place, taken by Charles Leclerc, confirms Ferrari’s gradual progress, and this certainly cheers up the tifosi. But in general, in these few days, a truly large-scale motorsport festival was held on the Red Bull Ring, the program of which was not limited to the Formula 1 Grand Prix.

Many different entertainments were hosted on the track, DJs performed, bands played different styles of music, flying bulls aerobatic team pilots demonstrated their skills in the skies above the track, and one of the highlights was the parade of historic Can- Am class sports prototypes.

Built by McLaren, Lola and BRM over 50 years ago, when the series was at its peak, these mighty V8 powered cars were brought to the Austrian circuit by motorsport veterans Helmut Marko, David Coulthard, Jos Verstappen, Mark Webber and Alexander Wurz.

With this turnout, the Austrian Grand Prix will be the most beautiful and biggest event of the sporting season in this country, but ticket sales for the 2024 Formula 1 race will start from today.
