Aston Martin does not regret his protest in Austria

After the finish of the Austrian Grand Prix, the Aston Martin team protested the result of the race. The reason for the protest was that not all drivers who violated track limits during the race were penalized.

The stewards accepted the protest and adjusted the result of the Austrian Grand Prix a few hours later. Due to additional penalties from Carlos Sainz and Pierre Gasly, Aston Martin drivers Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll each gained one position back.

Aston Martin boss Mike Krak admits not everyone liked the review of the Austrian Grand Prix results, but he believes the team did the right thing.

Mike Krak: “We are not afraid that anyone was upset by our protest, because we acted in the interest of the sport and in our own interest. We knew that our actions would cause some outrage, but at the end of the day we are doing what is right for the team and that is why we have decided to file a protest.

I think next year a solution will be found with the route limitation. Last year we were also fined for their infractions and learned our lesson. In the race we constantly reminded the riders to respect the limits as the penalties don’t keep you waiting.

It is important to remember that ten riders did not cross the limits of the track, so it was possible to pass the race while staying within legal limits.
