After the Austrian Grand Prix, the Alfa Romeo team dropped to eighth place in the Constructors’ Championship, behind Haas. For the upcoming stage at Silverstone, the team from Hinvil will bring many technical innovations, so they expect to earn points regularly again.
Alessandro Alunni Bravi, Managing Director of the Sauber Group and spokesperson for the Alfa Romeo team: “We are heading to the UK after a difficult weekend in Austria where our results were not comparable to those of the team in previous races. However, we remain optimistic.
At Silverstone the team will bring important updates to the car, which we have been working hard on over the past few months at the Hinwil base. I hope they help us get back into the top ten.
We’ve seen our rivals take a step forward with new products, but now we’re striving to make our move. The team is confident in their abilities and wants to show that it was not our weekend in Austria, but we are still involved in the fight and can make a difference.”
Valttery Bottas: “There is no doubt that we expected more from the round in Austria, because before that we earned points in several races in a row. The team had a difficult Grand Prix – we had problems all weekend. In addition, the start of Sunday’s race was ruined, which reduced the chances of recovery.
I’m looking forward to racing at Silverstone this week on another classic track that is timeless. We will bring new items and they should help return the form we have been showing for the past month.
We know where we need to improve and everyone in the team in the starting line-up and on track is doing their best. It is extremely important to make sure that the novelties work from the first training sessions, and we are back in the fray.
Guanyu Zhou: “We are motivated to go to Silverstone for the second race of the doubles after a difficult weekend in Spielberg. We will have several new products that should help take the next step forward. I look forward to returning to the track to unleash their potential. I hope we get more speed than in Austria.
There are difficult races, but it’s important not to lose focus and keep working to get back into the top ten.
Of course I remember my accident at Silverstone last year, but that chapter was past, even when I returned home that day. The upcoming race is important to me as I have spent a lot of time in the UK. I am motivated to do well on a track that I know well.”
