The Alpine F1 leads the McLaren to fifth in the Constructors’ Championship and, since the Monaco Grand Prix, the factory Renault team has scored more consistently than their closest rivals.
But in Austria the picture has changed: Lando Norris scored 12 points, then Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon earned only three for two. Alpine F1 boss Otmar Safnaer is concerned about this, but hopes such a noticeable difference in results is just a special case.
Otmar Szafnauer: “In Austria, Saturday was better for us than Sunday, although we earned points on both days of the weekend. We managed to get ahead of one of the McLaren cars, but Lando was very fast – let’s hope it’s because of the track characteristics.
However, we are also preparing technical innovations for Silverstone, so we will see how our business goes in the next phase of the season.
