The Austrian Grand Prix was unsuccessful for Mercedes – at the end of the stage, the team only managed eleven points, which was the worst result of the season. Chief Toto Wolff wants to bounce back at the British Grand Prix next weekend.
Toto Wolff: “We are delighted to be back on track after a busy weekend in Austria. The team earned a few points, but we didn’t have enough speed for more. Behind the Red Bull is a very tight fight, and every weekend the advantage goes from one team to another. This is partly due to the characteristics of a particular track, partly due to the cycle of machine updates. We were on the wrong side in Spielberg, but we have a chance to bounce right back.
The team has worked hard to analyze our performance and draw conclusions. We accept this result, but now we will try to return to the form we showed in previous races. Given that we will have regular updates at Silverstone and we will continue to experiment, the team has reason to be optimistic.
However, we don’t want to get ahead of ourselves. The team is focused on the current work and trying to get the most out of the car. Let’s see what results we get this weekend.
The British Grand Prix is one of the highlights of the season. Silverstone has a unique atmosphere and the fans are incredibly supportive. This is a fast and smooth circuit, where exciting races take place. I hope we do well and put on a great show.”
