Magnussen: The British stage is like a big festival

Haas driver Kevin Magnussen spoke about what the British Formula 1 round, which will be held at Silverstone next weekend, means for him and his team.

Q: What emotions does the British Grand Prix at Silverstone evoke in you?
Kevin Magnussen: There are always great stages at Silverstone thanks to the fantastic atmosphere. British fans are very passionate about Formula 1 and the atmosphere on the track is reminiscent of one big party or festival. The track is fantastic and it’s great to drive a Formula 1 car at Silverstone.

Ask the team’s UK base is just 15 miles from Silverstone. Do you consider this internship as home?
Kevin Magnussen: It’s great that this is one of our home races in a sense. There are many Brits in the team and the base is in Banbury.

Haas even has multiple home stages. In the US we have “official” home races, but the team also has bases in the UK and Italy.

Q: After the British Grand Prix, the team will participate in the Pirelli tests. What new things can you learn from them?
Kevin Magnussen: These are tire tests, so there’s not much we can do other than do laps. But just driving around Silverstone on a nice clear day isn’t the worst thing to do!
