Williams drivers have opposing views on Montreal qualifying…
Alex Albon (12th): “Today the car has a good pace, qualifying in Montreal was the best of the season for me. We changed the approach to qualifying slightly, it worked, so I’m happy with today. Despite hitting the barrier at Turn 6, I only damaged the front fender.
We are usually more competitive in the race than in qualifying. I’m in a good position to fight for points in the race. That’s the goal!”
Nicholas Latific (19th): “Difficult qualifying in extremely bad conditions. I had to use tires for heavy rain, which do not provide good grip. The intermediate rubber works much better, but there was too much water on the track. In addition, I had constant problems with braking – we have to figure it out.
If you have no grip in corners and no confidence in braking, the session will be very difficult. Conditions were better on Saturday, but a collision with a groundhog limited the distance covered and we had to make some repairs. Tomorrow will not be easy, but I will do everything I can to recover.
