Last year, the action of Just Stop Oil activists had to postpone the restart of the race at Silverstone by almost an hour.
A few days ago the issue was discussed at a meeting of the British Formula 1 teams’ leadership with the Prime Minister, and today on BBC 5 Live, Silverstone director Stuart Pringle urged potential protesters not to cross reason.
Stuart Pringle: “It is impossible to compare the Formula 1 podium to the recent promotions at the Chelsea Flower Show or on the cricket ground at Lords.
On a race track, the risk of serious injury or death is very high if you are in front of a race car going faster than 300 km/h. It is ridiculous recklessness to risk your life, the lives of riders, spectators and marshals. The autodrome is not a place for people who behave like this. I urge them not to be fools.”
