On Thursday at Silverstone, George Russell spoke about the calendar for the upcoming season of 24 Grands Prix and Max Verstappen’s comment that he would leave Formula 1 at the end of his current contract.
George Russell: “You just have to accept the calendar. It looks quite logical, so everyone will feel comfortable.
I think Max was talking about leaving because he wants more money. Now that he is the highest paid Formula 1 driver, he rightly deserves it, but these words are part of his strategy. I hope he doesn’t leave and we can fight. My goal is to fight against the best drivers in the world: Lewis, Max, Charles and Lando.
Now Formula 1 is in top form. But we can’t endlessly increase the volume of advertising commitments and races, at some point you have to take something away to add something.
I know for myself that now with the increase in the number of Grand Prix, the number of our commitments to partners does not decrease, we have to work overtime and I am almost certain that things are the same at Red Bull. But if we had no other commitments we would be happy to race every weekend, I’m sure.”
