The stewards of the Austrian Grand Prix review the result of the stage after Aston Martin’s protest. At Silverstone, team driver Fernando Alonso said if the stewards cut lap times for going beyond the limits of the track, they should act consistently and penalize the drivers.
Fernando Alonso: “I think everyone who has watched the race has noticed the numerous violations of the track limits. In any case, commentators on Spanish television said that every one or two laps, two or three riders crossed the boundaries of the track. This turned the race over a hundred laps distant.
If you remove the lap time for exceeding the limits of the track, then it is quite normal to penalize the offenders afterwards. I have nothing against riders or teams, but if the direction of the race takes away so many laps, then there has to be a logical next step. It’s simple enough.”
On the outlook for Aston Martin this weekend, Fernando said: “Let’s see what result we get. I think we are entering an interesting phase. From job to job, one team or the other gets a slight advantage. In Austria Ferrari and McLaren were faster than us, but at Silverstone we will try to get back to our usual competitive form.
