Alfa Romeo’s best driver in the second practice session of the British Grand Prix was Guanyu Zhou, who set the eleventh fastest time. His partner Valtteri Bottas closed the session with a sixteenth result. The team tested novelties and prepared for the main events of the race weekend.
Guanyu Zhou (11th): “The novelties we have brought to this track are working as expected. Of course, it’s difficult to make predictions based on the results of practice, so we won’t know our true positions until qualifying starts.
Today all work was devoted to new products and testing of various institutions. I had some problems with the balance, but overall the eleventh time is a good result. If we manage to do everything perfectly, then I am sure we will get more out of the car.
In the evening, the team will evaluate the data collected today. We have to analyze how we can take a step forward on Saturday.”
Valttery Bottas (16e): “Today, like any other Friday, all work was devoted to learning. The innovations that the team brought to this circuit resulted in more downforce. This is a step forward, but we are not the only team preparing updates for this weekend. The fight is very tight, so let’s see how we got closer to the opponents.
We still have to work in the evening to optimize the car and find an increase in speed. Tomorrow it will be crucial to have a perfect qualifying and get a starting position, which I hope will allow us to fight for the points in the race.”
