Lando Norris: I was close to pole

The McLaren racers showed 2nd and 3rd results in qualifying on the British circuit, so when Lando Norris came to the microphone after the end of the session, the stands gave him a thunderous applause. Oscar Piastri did not receive much less applause.

Lando Norris (2nd): “I was close to pole and we were generally fast from the start of qualifying. In the second part I showed the best time in my opinion. But the fight was very close, I only lost a few tenths. My last attempt went really well and when I got back to the pits I got a congratulations over the radio from Zach Brown – it was a lot of fun!

I think I’m in good shape today, but Oscar and I secured a start from 2nd and 3rd – this is a great result for the whole team. In general, pole position was close, but this Max Verstappen always ruins everything for everyone! (laughs)

However, I am very pleased and I want to thank all the fans who came to the circuit today for their support! Today we have a special day, but now we will prepare for tomorrow’s race. This result was a reward for all the efforts of our team, especially on the home track!”

Oscar Pistri (3rd): “I am very, very happy! Here’s the qualification! At first we almost fell out in the first session, but in the second and third we didn’t have a car, we had a rocket.

A great result for the whole team, because Lando and I start from the front rows, but now the task is to stay in these positions in tomorrow’s race.

Yesterday wasn’t easy, although we were actually faster than it looks from the outside. But today we handled things better, especially in such circumstances.

We’ve already had good moments, but to show such speed in the qualifying final is great for both of us. Now both machines have been upgraded and during qualifying it has been confirmed that they work really efficiently.
