Nico Hulkenberg fared better in the difficult qualifying conditions at Silverstone, with an 11th fastest time, while his team-mate retired in the first session due to car problems…
Nico Hulkenberg (11th): “The conditions were difficult, some parts of the track remained wet, but in the end everything turned out well. Good qualifying, the feeling is that I got the most out of our car.
We were close to Alpine, but the inability to use DRS got in the way. I think we had more downforce than other cars, so the lack of DRS didn’t help.”
Kevin Magnussen (20th): “It seems that this is not yet my year, but it is in such a situation that you use your experience, self-control – and continue to fight.
Before the car came to a stop everything was going well, I did a good lap and I felt I could improve, but suddenly everything cut out.
