Zach Brown: I hope we can fight for the podium

Zack Brown, CEO of McLaren, was of course very pleased with his drivers’ results in qualifying.

However, the speed Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri were capable of behind the wheel of the upgraded MCL60 surprised everyone, as on the fast and difficult circuit at Silverstone they lost only to Max Verstappen. Incidentally, the McLaren car will start from the front row at Silverstone for the first time since 2008.

Zach Brown: “These results are just a testament to the tremendous effort Andrea Stella and everyone at McLaren are putting in, both here on the track and in the base at Woking. Technical innovations work effectively, the team works smoothly and the riders steer well.

We’ve had both bad moments and successes during the season, but this is definitely one of the best moments of the year. Let’s see what we can achieve on Sunday.

It is clear that we have always performed confidently in Austria, although this can be explained by the characteristics of the track. But we have indeed taken a step forward, which is confirmed by all our data, and as Silverstone has received technical updates on both machines, today’s results show that the upgraded MCL60 has really picked up speed.

It seems that we are gradually gaining momentum, but at the same time we must remain realistic. We have regular technical updates in the works, but everyone else is also upgrading their cars.
nobody stands still and the results are incredibly tight, so you have to keep working hard and attacking.
Of course we celebrate success today, but work will continue tomorrow morning. Yesterday we showed very good pace on a long series of circles in practice, and while we usually looked stronger in qualifying than in races, the picture on this track could look different given Friday’s results.

I hope we can fight for the podium on Sunday. I don’t think the pace will allow us to claim victory, so tomorrow we will have to work hard.”
