Valtteri Bottas was excluded from the qualifying results because there was not enough fuel in the tanks for the control sample – and he regretted the way the day ended.
Valttery Bottas (disqualified): “The results were disappointing. It looked like we had a real chance of getting into the top ten. But on the last lap the engine started to lose power and then stopped. It turned out that there was a technical problem with the fuel in the car, and we are already working to ensure that this does not happen again.
Unfortunately this means I will start at the back of the field and this is not the place we deserve. Tomorrow we have a long day ahead of us, the weather may add another element of unpredictability, but we’ll see. The car behaved better than the day before, our goal is to get the most out of it and compete with rivals.
Guanyu Zhou (18th): “I’m sure we could have done better, but the day turned out to be difficult for our team.
During the last practice I was not able to go out on track due to a technical problem which the team quickly addressed and resolved. But in qualifying my chances were limited.
I tried to find a normal grip on the asphalt, in the end I only did one lap, which was not enough to qualify for the second part of qualifying. Now it is especially important to prepare well for the race.”
