Aston Martin is disappointed with the results of qualifying at Silverstone but hopes to bounce back on Sunday, bearing in mind that race pace is one of the strengths of the AMR23 car.
Fernando Alonso (9th): “Not the way we wanted to do this qualifying, but it took place in difficult conditions on a track that dried up after rain. However, tomorrow we have a long race and usually on Sunday our car is capable of a good pace, this is one of its advantages.
At least we made it to the final of qualifying again, but we still have to deal with the idiosyncrasies of the AMR23’s behavior on different tracks.
The weather could also be changeable tomorrow, so we need to stay focused and see what we can achieve under the conditions of the race.”
Lance walk (12th): “I think we could have done better in qualifying today. But the red flags in the first session forced us to use the third set of tyres, so we ran out of new tires in the second part. This put us at a disadvantage compared to the rest.
But we have a long race ahead of us tomorrow and the car is making a good impression, so I will do my best to get through the pack and put on an interesting show for our British fans.”
Mike Crackteam boss: “It was one of the most difficult qualifying sessions of the year, it took place on a drying track and there was always the risk of rain again, and red flags appeared on the track at the end of the first session.
Overall today we didn’t have the pace to fight for high positions so we need to analyze everything, understand what we can improve and try to apply this knowledge to move forward.
Tomorrow we will try to win back so as not to disappoint the passionate British fans.
