Charles Leclerc about himself and about Ferrari

In an interview with The Guardian, Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc spoke about himself and the team…

Charles Leclerc: “Sometimes it seems that some people have boundless self-confidence. But they also have difficult moments.

I am very critical of my mistakes and with the team I try to be objective and fair. I try to motivate everyone to use the same approach – be self-critical, draw conclusions and improve. Sometimes the team and I disagree, but we are always very honest with each other.

I tell the team what I think and the team says what they think. This helps to move forward. We’ve never had trust issues. But often the driver sees the situation differently than the team on the pit wall, so we don’t always agree.

When you have a difficult car, like we had at the beginning of the season, mistakes happen. I know. When something is missing, I try to find what is missing, I always attack to the limit.

I really want to take part in the fight for the title, and the fact that we don’t have such a chance now doesn’t upset me, but it motivates me a lot. I want to bring Ferrari back to the position it deserves, to the top.

This year we are far from the form we hoped for, but being a Ferrari driver is something special. I don’t pay attention to outside pressure, the biggest pressure I put on myself, I feel responsible for the results, for Ferrari’s return to the top.

The passion people have for our team is unmatched by anyone else. It’s great that the enthusiasm is so great, but because of that passion people are sometimes impatient. What we need now is patience.”
