The race at Silverstone was the sixth in a row in which the AlphaTauri team failed to score any points – Yuki Tsunoda and Nick de Vries finished sixteenth and seventeenth. The team explained this result by the car’s lack of speed.
Yuki Tsunoda (16th): “Tough race. We had a normal strategy, but I just didn’t have enough speed. We improved in the fast corners, but today the problems were in the slow corners. We still have a lot to add in the future, but in terms of my race I’m happy – I did everything I could.
Together with the team we are working in the same direction on the development of the machine. We will continue to do our best.”
Nick deVries (17th): “Good race. We were very competitive in the first stint on the soft tires – I was able to stay on track longer than we expected while still being competitive. It is a pity that we missed the opportunity after the virtual safety car.
The first few laps on Hard tires were also good, but the last part was very difficult. The bands have been sensitive to temperature fluctuations this week, so we need to study the telemetry data to understand the cause.
Overall, we didn’t want a result like that – the team wasn’t competitive enough, but I think most of the race went well.”
