Zhou: New products don’t work well enough

Alfa Romeo hoped that the set of updates prepared by the team would be added for the British leg of the championship, but these expectations did not come true.

Valttery Bottas (12th): “It looks like we did everything we could today after starting from last position, moreover we were also lucky that a virtual safety car mode was introduced and a real safety car entered the track . This resulted in a pit stop with minimal loss of time.

In general, you have to solve difficult tasks when you start last, but in this situation we were able to do the maximum.

The novelties prepared by us for the British leg of the season have enabled us to take a step forward, but other teams are also making progress. There is a very intense rivalry in the championship, everyone is trying to improve, and although our position has improved a bit too, there is still a lot of work to do.

Guanyu Zhou (15th): “Unfortunately I was initially called for a pit stop before the safety car came on track, so I had to go back to the pits, otherwise I would have stayed in the tail of the pack on hard tires. This would not be an ideal situation.

And when I had already switched to soft rubber, the visor film got stuck in one of the air ducts of the brakes, the brakes began to overheat, and to cope with this, I had to make another pit stop. Anyway, I think we were just unlucky this weekend.

In terms of the new products we presented at Silverstone, I think we still have a lot of work to do. The updates don’t make as good of an impression as we expected, that’s pretty obvious.

It takes time to make real progress; in addition, it is important to correctly determine what our next actions will be. It seems that other teams, by upgrading their cars, are more efficient than us, and this has allowed them to take a noticeable step forward.

I think our C43 has potential, but we need to keep working on updating the aerodynamic body kit to get the speed boost we need to fight for points again.
