Frederic Vasseur took over the Ferrari team at the beginning of this year. Under his leadership, the Scuderia has yet to make any serious progress and claim no races, and Charles Leclerc has just two podium finishes this season. Maurizio Arrivabene, who led the Ferrari team from late 2014 to January 2019, believes that little time has passed to evaluate Vasseur’s work.
“I know Vasseur,” Maurizio Arrivabene told Sky Italia. “He did a great job at Alfa Romeo and discovered the future champion Charles Leclerc. However, working in Maranello is not easy. This is a very different organization with a large number of employees.
The Ferrari brand is great, but it’s very hard to represent because you’re under a lot of pressure all the time. It takes time to get used to and understand how all the mechanisms work, and to understand that Ferrari represents Italy.
As a Ferrari fan I am not happy with the result of the race at Silverstone, but it is clear that the team needs support in such difficult moments. The role of the leader is to motivate the team to always give their best.”
