Sergio Perez finished sixth at Silverstone and is now 99 points behind Max Verstappen in the individual standings. The Red Bull Racing driver believes that he was unable to achieve a better result in the last stage due to lack of luck.
“Nothing worked in the race,” Racingnews365 quoted Sergio Perez as saying. – I had a great start, but on the first lap Esteban Ocon squeezed me out of the track and I lost positions, which I then struggled to regain. During the first stint I put too much pressure on the tyres, so I had to do three laps before the safety car arrived. Without tire problems I would not have gone to the pits so early.
I tried my best and did everything I could, but it was very difficult to regain positions, especially closer to the finish, when everyone was riding the same compound and there was no speed difference due to tyres.
At high speeds it is difficult to follow other cars closely, because part of the downforce is lost. If I had been luckier, I would have finished a little higher.”
