British GP: Verstappen – Norris – Hamilton

Cloudy. Dry. Air +22 C, highway +30 C

The Silverstone round was the tenth on the calendar (although it was considered the eleventh due to the Imola race being cancelled) and summed up the first half of the season, with all races being won by the Red Bull drivers.

Most teams brought novelties that they started testing in Austria last week, the balance of power has really changed, but for some the novelties worked, for others they didn’t.

On Friday, Max Verstappen led practice, Saturday morning it rained and Charles Leclerc led protocol, and Verstappen again won qualifying. At the same time, McLaren racers showed the second and third time – the novelties worked for this team and impressed the rivals.

Tire manufacturers released a new rubber that can withstand higher loads and the toughest compounds – C1 as hard, C2 as medium and C3 as soft. Many have complained that hard tires don’t work in relatively cool weather. The cars were skidding, there was no clutch, but that’s what it is.

Verstappen and Norris started the race from the front row of the grid, Piastri and Leclerc from second, Sainz and Russell from third.

Hulkenberg and Bottas chose Hard for the first leg of the race. Russell, Okon, Tsunoda, de Vries started on Soft, the rest on Medium.

At the start Norris passed Verstappen to lead the race. Hamilton and Albon lost two positions each, Alonso and Gasley gained two back each, Tsunoda gained three.
