Anyone who has visited the McLaren Technology Center in Woking will remember the powerful impression the collection of historic cars makes on the Boulevard, a special ground-floor space overlooking the man-made lake.
And one of the main exhibits of this collection is the Austin 7 Ulster, on which team founder Bruce McLaren began his racing career. His father restored an old 1920s sports car, and from 1952, 14-year-old Bruce raced it in hill climb competitions.
This bright red Austin 7, despite its more than venerable age of 87, is maintained in immaculate condition by McLaren specialists, and this weekend Zach Brown will drive this rarity to compete in the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
“We rewind years ago, to the very beginning. This Saturday our boss will be driving Bruce McLaren’s first race car at Goodwood. Well, Zach Brown, are you looking forward to it yet? – the press service of the team reacted cheerfully to the news.
The McLaren chief joins an already impressive delegation from Woking, who will certainly be in the spotlight at Goodwood. We have already told about what excellent racers are included in it and what glorious cars they will drive.
