Last week at Silverstone, the McLaren team achieved their first podium of the season thanks to Lando Norris’ second place finish. The head Andrea Stella is satisfied with the result, but believes that the team should not think about regular victories until 2025.
Andrea Stella: “We have certain goals that are negotiable, but that don’t necessarily change our approach. The approach of the team is to constantly work on development, following a logical and understandable path. Then we see what results we can achieve.
Once we started developing this car, based on the speed of new product introductions, it was reasonable to expect that we would be able to compete with the top four teams by the end of the season. We thought it possible, but in a way it was a surprise to us that the team has already taken such shape.
The team expects McLaren drivers to be able to compete for the podium next season, and a year later – for victory. This is a long-term vision, but it is impossible to show results based on the vision. To achieve results, it is necessary to be based on facts and on the novelties installed on the machine. We’re working on this.”
