Carlos Sainz: We hope everything will run more smoothly now

After the finish of the Canadian Grand Prix, Ferrari drivers summed it up in the traditional speech to the fans.

Carlos Sainz: Hello everyone! Charles and I are recovering from the race as the battle was very sharp. This is one of those races after which there are mixed feelings.

On the one hand I’m happy we were able to set a high pace, I actively put pressure on Max Verstappen and I was one step away from winning; on the other hand, although my desire to win was stronger than ever and I did everything in my power, it still wasn’t enough.

I finished second, Charles fifth. He fought well and bounced back, so we earned a lot of points for the team. Let’s hope things go a little smoother now, we can both climb the podiums and soon we will have victories.

Charles Leclerc: “Mamma mia! This race gave me a lot of emotions, because in the first part of it I was stuck in the “DRS train”, and in the second I was behind Esteban Ocon, who was running on a fresh set of hard tires. At the same time, my hard tires were already quite worn out, so I couldn’t get out of the hairpin turn properly.

Overtaking was almost impossible, but at the end of the Grand Prix it became more fun and I was ahead of several rivals. I started 19th and finished fifth, which is not bad, but of course worse than I would like.

Congratulations to Carlos as he was very close to victory. Ahead of the race at Silverstone, where we will try to compete for pole position and victory. Forza Ferrari!
