The organizers of the traditional Goodwood Festival of Speed have completely canceled Saturday’s program due to difficult weather conditions and on this occasion issued a special statement stressing that such extreme measures had to be taken for the first time in 30 years.
“It is with great regret that we have decided that there will be no Goodwood Festival of Speed on Saturday 15th July. After consultation with meteorologists, health and safety experts and other key stakeholders, we have taken the decision to close the festival site due to a warning of dangerous winds in the Goodwood area.
Safety is our top priority and high winds are predicted to threaten several temporary structures on the festival grounds. We ask that you do not come to Goodwood and do not attempt to enter its territory …
The entire Festival of Speed organizers team is deeply saddened that for the first time in 30 years we will not be able to hold it on a Saturday.”
The organizers also added that on Sunday everything will go according to plan, but since all tickets for the main day of the festival are sold out, Saturday-only ticket holders will not be able to enter its territory and the money will be returned to them later.
