Oscar Piastri nervous for Goodwood debut

Erratic English weather prevented the Goodwood Festival of Speed from running as planned and Saturday’s program had to be cancelled. But today in the county of West Sussex, although it is cloudy, the sun breaks through now and then and nothing prevents the participants and numerous guests from enjoying this real motorsport celebration.

The McLaren delegation at the festival is one of the most representative, including Oscar Piastri driving the historic M26-2 car used by James Hunt in 1977.

Oscar Piastri: “This is my second time at the Goodwood Festival, but for the first time with McLaren, and I am absolutely thrilled! I always watched this hill climb race, I always liked it, but today I also got the chance to participate in it.

I will be driving James Hunt’s 1977 car, it has a manual transmission and a clutch pedal, and I am very nervous. It promises to be a fun day, hopefully the normal weather will continue, but it’s great to see a lot of people coming to the festival.

This is the first time I’m going to drive a fast hill track, it’s very noisy with all those cool cars and I’m determined to have some real fun!
