Vettel: Williams FW14B can turn donuts very well!

Today at Goodwood, Sebastian Vettel drives two truly legendary cars from his personal collection and after a demonstration drive in the Williams FW14B, Nigel Mansel spoke about his impressions.

Sebastian Vettel: “Nigel Mansell’s champion Williams FW14B may not have been designed to run donuts on it, but he allows it. I wanted to find out – and everything turned out great! True, in the end it started to overheat, but everything is fine, I enjoyed it very much.

There are so many people in Goodwood these days and it’s great! I’m here under the slogan Race Without Trace (ie synthetic fuel leaves no carbon footprint in the environment) and I want to show everyone that you can literally race without a trace.

We use synthetic fuel, and while these old cars aren’t designed for it, they can run on them, they just need to retune their engines a little bit. Such a fuel is very suitable for modern Formula 1 cars and production cars, and we just want to show that there is a real alternative.

The world is changing, but we must not give up, we can continue to race, but adopt a more responsible approach.

Today at Goodwood not only am I driving Nigel Mansell’s Williams but also Ayrton Senna’s McLaren from my collection both cars are beautiful in their own way but we are now in England and here is this FW14B with a red number 5 on it the bodywork still has more legendary status. But Senna is a great name, so I’m already looking forward to getting behind the wheel of his McLaren MP4/8 a little later!

And I’m already thinking about performing at the Goodwood Revival festival of historic vehicles in September.”
