Schumacher: Haas is hard to fight for points under normal circumstances

When Haas F1 racers occupied the entire third row of the grid at the end of qualifying in Montreal, the American team already saw this as a reason to rejoice. Unfortunately, this joy was premature as neither Kevin Magnussen nor Mick Schumacher earned points.

At the start, the Dane’s car had damaged a front fender after contact with Lewis Hamilton’s Mercedes and he had to go to the pit stop, which he did not want, but the team had to follow the instructions of the race directors. After that he was unable to recover and finished only 17th.

And Mick Schumacher generally retired on lap 18 of the race due to power plant problems. This didn’t stop his own uncle Ralph, former Formula 1 driver and now Sky Deutschland expert, from noticing positive moments in his cousin’s work over the weekend.

“In any case, it is very important that this weekend has brought some relief for Mick. Recently, the situation has been alarming for him and his team, but now both sides know what positions they are taking, Schumacher said. – The whole team did well, both drivers Kevin and Mick were fast in qualifying.

They showed good speed at the start of the race, but what happened after that was pure bad luck, and nothing can be done about it. But you shouldn’t measure everything solely by the number of points earned, because under normal circumstances it is difficult for Haas to fight for places in the top ten. In Canada, they may have succeeded because of the unpredictable weather that accompanied Saturday’s qualifying.

It cannot be ruled out that they would have stayed in the top ten, but for Mick it is now important to finish ahead of or as close to his partner as possible. But let’s see how it plays out when the team introduces some technical updates in Hungary – let’s hope they turn out to be quite serious and effective, and the car gains speed, allowing us to qualify for points. ”
