Former Formula 1 driver Nicholas Latifi announced on social media that he would be taking a break from the race to complete his Masters of Business Administration (MBA).
Latifi lost his place in the team “Williams” at the end of last season.
“At the start of the year I decided that I would not have racing plans for 2023. Knowing that this year I will not be driving a race car, I started to think about what could be the further on in my career, be it racing or something completely different, I decided that in the near future I wanted to hang out and follow a different path.
Growing up I always had a keen interest in the business world and always said that’s what I would have studied in college if I hadn’t raced.
With that in mind and knowing I could take a break from running, I decided I wanted to get my MBA and focus on something that would change the next phase of my life. I have been accepted into the London Business School for the MBA program, which I will start in August this year, the 28-year-old Canadian wrote on social media.
He noted that he had not closed his way to the race.
This decision may surprise many. Moving to another racing category might have seemed the most obvious step. However, I knew that at some point after the races there would always be another life, and I decided it was time to prepare for it. It’s not necessarily a farewell to the world of racing forever. Running has been my life since I was 13 and I’m still very passionate about it. However, I felt this year was the right time to explore and explore other opportunities in my life,” Latifi said.
Latifi drove for Williams in 2020-22, the driver’s best result is seventh at the 2021 Hungarian Grand Prix.
